The boat is a classic North Carolina Spritsail Skiff resting on a ramp along Taylor's Creek in Beaufort, North Carolina. This design dates back to the days of working sailboats and they are quite fast. A drawing I did for the folder of the lithograph of this painting is used as the logo for the N.C. Maritime Museum in Beaufort, NC.
