The Scotch Bonnet is the North Carolina State shell and is found from North Carolina to Florida. The shell has a beautiful and colorful translucence when in sunlight. This effect is hard to capture, but can be approximated with multiple glazes of thin color. The gulls are Laughing Gulls of our coastal area.
