This painting appeared in an article I wrote for the April 1985 issue of American Artist magazine. The title of the article was, "Painting Atmospheric Effects" and I felt the painting was a good example of the theme of the article. The scene is from the top of the bridge between Swansboro, NC and the Boques Banks (Emerald Isle). The geometric shapes made by the patterns of marshes has always fascinated me as they are quite abstract.
